StreamingChasers FAQ

GENERAL

Q: What is StreamingChasers?
A: StreamingChasers is a subscription-based data service that helps music publishers track when and where their music appears in TV and film content across global streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, Apple TV+, Disney+, and HBO Max.

Q: How does StreamingChasers help me collect more royalties?
A: By matching your sync placements to global streaming data, StreamingChasers identifies where your works are being exploited and generates reports that can be submitted to PROs and sub-publishers.

Q: Who is StreamingChasers for?
A: The platform is designed for music publishers, sync agents, and rights holders who want to streamline royalty tracking and maximize revenue from audiovisual uses on streaming services.

GETTING STARTED

Q: What do I need to sign up?
A: You’ll need to provide your name, company name, email address, phone number, and select a subscription plan. Once your account is set up, you can begin uploading catalog, royalty, and sync data.

Q: What file formats are supported for uploads?
A: We support spreadsheet imports in CSV format, including exports from Harvest and SourceAudio.

Q: Do I need to enter my entire catalog?
A: You can start with a focused list of works, particularly those with sync placements. The more metadata you provide, the better your results.

Q: Do I have to upload royalty statements?
A: Yes, uploading your royalty statements is required to use our service effectively. We recommend uploading statements from the previous year and the current year from each PRO—exactly as they were provided to you. You do not need to reformat or modify them; our system is designed to handle each PRO’s unique file structure. For optimal tracking and reconciliation, it’s best to choose the year prior to your starting year—for example, if you’re tracking 2024 placements, upload 2024, 2025, and ongoing statements to ensure accurate reconciliation as foreign PROs typically pay on a delay.

Q: What if I don’t want to upload the $ amounts or composer info?
A: We require you to upload your royalty statements exactly as received, including composer details. Feel free to zero out the “amount” columns if you’re not comfortable sharing them, but the columns and headers must remain. The composer information enables us to accurately match sync uses to royalty payments and identify discrepancies in your data. Rest assured, our site is secure, and you can review our Privacy Policy for more information on how your data is protected. Additionally, we may introduce royalty analysis features in the future, and having this data already in the system will make those tools more valuable to you.

USAGE & FEATURES

Q: How does the platform match my sync data to streaming data?
A: We use a combination of your input data, artificial intelligence, and third-party data from MyFlickList, Inc. (Reelgood.com) to identify which TV and film titles are currently streaming in various territories.

Q: Are you using fingerprinting or watermarking technology for the tracking?
A: No, StreamingChasers does not rely on fingerprinting or watermarking. Our platform matches your sync placement data to streaming availability information provided by our third-party data partner.

Q: Do I need to upload WAV files like I do with other tracking services?
A: No. StreamingChasers does not require audio uploads. Instead, we focus on matching your sync metadata to verified streaming information, making the process faster, lighter, and more secure.

Q: Can I reconcile my royalty statements in the platform?
A: Yes. You can import royalty statements and identify unpaid syncs. We help you match these against streaming data, so you can update your claims with PROs.

Q: What kind of reports can I export?
A: StreamingChasers generates customized spreadsheets that include platform names, streaming start dates, country breakdowns, and metadata formatted for PRO or internal use.

Q: Do you track streamers in every country?
A: Currently, we track streaming platforms in the following countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Spain, and the United Kingdom. We plan to add more countries in the future.

Q: Which streamers do you track?
A: We track the following U.S.-based streamers across all supported countries: Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Prime Video, and HBO Max (where applicable). We also track certain country-specific platforms such as Sky Store, Maxdome, and others.

Q: Do you know which streamers the PROs will pay on?
A: Yes. With years of direct royalty collection experience, we’ve developed insight into which streamers are most likely to trigger payments from the PROs. StreamingChasers focuses on tracking those specific platforms to help maximize your collection potential.

Q: Why don’t you track the United States?
A: Currently, we do not track streaming availability in the United States because U.S. release information is widely accessible to anyone through sources like IMDb. However, we may add U.S. tracking for foreign productions in the future.

Q: Can I access your service using an API?
A: Yes. StreamingChasers offers API access for qualified users. Click the “API” link at the bottom of the website for details on setup and integration.

PLANS & BILLING

Q: What are the subscription tiers?
A:

  • Basic – $100/month, up to 100 sync uses
  • Pro – $250/month, up to 250 sync uses
  • Max – $500/month, up to 500 sync uses
  • Enterprise – Custom pricing for large catalogs

Q: What counts as a “sync use”?
A: A sync use is a unique audiovisual title that contains one of your works.

Q: What happens if I have 101 uses?
A: If your sync use count exceeds your plan’s limit, you’ll be prompted to upgrade to the next tier.

Q: What happens if I paid for an annual subscription at 100 sync uses, but halfway through the year my sync uses increased to 101?
A: If your usage exceeds the sync limit in your annual plan, you will be asked to upgrade to the appropriate plan. The cost of the upgrade will be prorated based on the remaining months in your subscription. You’ll receive a notification before your limit is reached to avoid disruption.

Q: How does billing work?
A: Billing is processed through Stripe on a monthly or annual basis. Annual subscriptions receive a 10% discount. We accept credit card and ACH payments.

Q: Do you offer refunds for early termination?
A: No. Prepaid annual plans are non-refundable. If you cancel early, your access continues until the end of the billing cycle. No refunds are given for partial-month use.

Q: When you add more countries and/or streamers, will the price increase for my subscription?
A: No. Your subscription fee is based on the number of sync uses, not the number of countries or streamers we track.

REPORTING & ROYALTY CLAIMS

Q: Where do I send the reports?
A: You can send the reports directly to the PRO in each territory—if you are affiliated—or to your subpublisher. On the export page within the platform, we provide contact information for many of the major foreign PROs to help facilitate your submissions.

Q: I’m a composer or publisher who isn’t directly affiliated with foreign PROs. Where should I send my StreamingChasers reports?
A: You can send the reports to your designated subpublisher in each territory and ask them to submit the data to the local PRO on your behalf.

Q: I don’t have a subpublisher and I’m not affiliated directly with any foreign PROs. Can I still use this service?
A: You can, but you may not receive the full benefit of the platform. While you can use StreamingChasers to track usage, ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC do not currently accept our reports for foreign claims. Additionally, due to the lack of complete payment data in ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC royalty statements, it’s difficult to reconcile payments from foreign territories. As a result, U.S. royalty reports cannot be uploaded or effectively used within the platform for claims.

Q: What about cue sheets?
A: While StreamingChasers helps identify streaming usage, it’s still your responsibility to ensure that your PRO has the cue sheets for all your sync placements. Cue sheets must include accurate title, writer, and publisher information, and they must be properly linked to your registered works for royalties to be processed correctly.

Q: Don’t the PROs already have the cue sheets?
A: Cue sheets are typically submitted to PROs by the production companies, and there is a shared global database that PROs can access. However, in our experience submitting StreamingChasers reports, we’ve found that cue sheets are often missing from the PRO’s records. Following up to confirm their receipt and accuracy is essential to ensuring proper payment.

Q: Do you guarantee that I will get paid by the foreign PRO?
A: No, we cannot guarantee that you will receive payment from any foreign PRO. Some PROs are more efficient and transparent in processing claims, while others may lack the resources or only process high-volume streamers. However, since 2018, Crucial Music has used a manual version of this system and has seen a significant increase in its foreign royalty revenue by proactively submitting usage reports.
